Duane Hamada is a Senior Principal at Design Partners Incorporated where he is responsible for Project Management and Quality Assurance. Although his focus is on Department of Defense (DOD) Projects, his experience includes commercial and public sector institutional structures as well as restaurants, retail stores and office interiors.
Mr. Hamada has significant expertise in the programming and design of complex high reliability facilities with high security requirements. His public sector projects range from NSA cryptologic headquarters, Navy SEAL operations centers, air and cargo terminals, aircraft rescue and fire-fighting stations to air and land simulator complexes, laboratories, fitness centers and consolidated clubs.
His projects have been recognized locally and nationally, including the Gold Nugget Award of Excellence, Gold Key Award in Interior Design, EPA Federal Facilities Clean Energy Award, the Federal Energy Showcase Award NAIOP Kukulu Hale New Project Award, HQ PACAF Design Excellence Award, USACE Design Merit Award, USACE Award of Excellence among others and his work has been cited by the Pacific Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command for Exemplary Performance.
Born and raised in Hawaii, Mr. Hamada’s education includes a BFA in Environmental Design and a B.Arch from the University of Hawaii where Mr. Hamada was awarded the AIA School Medal and Certificate of Excellence. He has held architectural licenses in Hawaii, Florida, Guam, Puerto Rico and Saipan.
He is active in the Boy Scouts of America and enjoys backpack camping and hiking.
