The project constructs, through renovation and addition, a new Elementary School which will accommodate 850 elementary school students, from Pre-K to 5th grade, and support present curriculum selected for that age group. The Bechtel Elementary School Program for Design is based on the anticipated enrollment by the year 2020, with additional projected growth in population for the DoD personnel living on-base and off base on the northern part of Island of Okinawa. Bechtel Elementary School. The new school’s functional areas include: neighborhood instructional spaces, special education spaces, staff collaboration spaces, commons areas, multipurpose room, information center, physical education, art rooms, music room, administration suite, health suite, guidance counseling suite, special education suite, food service, maintenance support, technology service center, and other areas required for a fully functional 21st Century elementary school.
