St. Louis School T.C. Ching Athletic Center

Located at one of the oldest private schools in the State, the new 35,000 SF Athletic Complex at St. Louis School provides a multi-venue facility for large athletic events, fundraising endeavors, formal events for the school and conference functions for both St. Louis School and Chaminade University which operate under a single entity, Marianist Center of Hawaii (MCH). The new Athletic Complex replaces the venerable yet aging Gerber Field House and its undersized locker room with support facilities that will service the school’s athletic and physical education departments.
The First Phase, a 5,000 SF State-of-the-Art weight training facility is provided within the infill space at the bottom of the newly completed Marianist Center parking structure. The existing Locker Room was renovated as part of Phase Two. The 4,500 SF locker room houses over 370 lockers, showers, toilet facilities, offices for PE teachers and coaches, training room, laundering facility, and storage for sports equipment and uniforms.
The most current phase replaces Gerber Fieldhouse with a new gymnasium containing an NCAA regulation basketball court with a 1,400-fixed seating capacity. The movable, end-line retractable grandstand bleacher seating allows for a variety of events, including fold down stage platforms for live performance events, and the ability to hold large indoor court sporting events such as wrestling competitions and other tournaments. The new facility supports the current educational trends for a dynamic and flexible facility. The complex offers an open and free flowing floor plan that can accommodate virtually any size and type of function such as school assemblies and after school educational events and athletic and recreational events for both the St. Louis School and Chaminade University, which shares the campus. The gymnasium also includes a new multi-purpose room with a full basketball/volleyball courts which can also function as a wrestling practice room and team areas for athletes and coaches. Telecommunication facilities at the Center permits media broadcasting for almost any type of event. The Athletic Complex reflects the deep and proud tradition of St. Louis School athletics.
